IN THE BEGINNING…
The home of Vocal Tutor Sheffield has been established within Yellow Arch Studios since 1997. The building started life as an Edwardian Nuts & Bolts factory for the bridge & shipping industry at the turn of the century.
After discovering the building in 1996 in disarray and ruin, we got our ladders, hammers and paint brushes out and set about redesigning and refurbishing the building and finally opened our doors as Yellow Arch Studios on October 7th 1997. As one of the founders I still hold an active role in the daily running, working & facilitating of the business. My particular areas of expertise are in Safeguarding, Community Engagement and Event Managing. You can also read more interesting post at www.themonstercycle.com.
FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICKS
Since opening, Yellow Arch has been operating successfully as a recording studio, equipment hire, teaching studio, band rehearsal facility, and also a venue for gigs and parties. We have established a great reputation as a key player in the music industry, both in Sheffield and further afield. Most famously known as the birthplace of Arctic Monkeys, the studio has produced albums by a diverse number of artists including Richard Hawley, Kylie Minogue, Jarvis Cocker and Duane Eddy, and has a strong working relationship with the BBC, EMI Records, Sony, Universal, Warners and many others. Yellow Arch Studios is listed in The Guardian as one of the top five places for a night out. On 7th February 2015 we opened our doors as a full time licenced venue, and we haven’t looked back since. We cater for everything from gigs, open mics and raves to private functions, such as birthdays and weddings. We also provide the facilities for service away days and corporate functions. There is a cafe bar area, main venue space and a secluded courtyard with heating, seating and enough space for a street food van.
Up until LOCKDOWN, Yellow Arch provided a facility for hundreds of local bands to meet, rehearse and record whilst offering placements and training to students. We will still provide these services with the exception of rehearsals. We also support and assist local community projects and charities.
With a licensed bar and the operational facilities available, we are one of the only buildings in Europe where people can write, record, learn, perform and film, all finished off with a pint, under the same roof!
A new addition the Yellow Arch is out Antiques WareHouse! Selling Antiques & Decorative Salvage as well as Vintage Clothing, Shoes & Accessories! You can find us at The WareHouse
